In November 2010, College and Career Pathways, Inc. students participated in a college tour of Salisbury State University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Initially, the students were a little hesitant about the schools, because they are located in a rural area; but as the day progressed, their opinions quickly changed!
Our first stop was Salisbury State University. We began the tour at the Admissions House, where we participated in an information session. At the session, the students learned about the university and had an opportunity to ask questions. After the Q and A perios, we took a tour of the campus, where students explored the Fulton Hall Gallery and created sand art; visited a glass blowing class in session; explored one of the campus dorms; and had lunch at the cafeteria, courtesy of the university.
After lunch, the students headed over to University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), where they received an overview of the university and its admissions process andĀ participated inĀ a tour of the campus. The students had the opportunity to talk to current UMES students and get their perspectives on college life.
The students truly enjoyed the campus tours, and many seniors decided to complete applications for Salisbury State because of their experience.
