On Friday November 12, 2010 10 College and Career Pathways, Inc. students participated in a college tour of Salisbury State University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Initially the students were a little hesitant about the schools, because they are located in a rural area, but as the day progressed, their opinions quickly changed!
Our first stop was Salisbury State University. We began the tour at the Admissions House were we participated in an information session. At the session the students not only learned about the university, they also got an opportunity to ask questions. After the Q and A session we were given a tour of the campus, where they explored the Fulton Hall Gallery and created sand art; visited a glass blowing class in session; got a look at one of the campus dorms; and had lunch at the cafeteria, where we had lunch courtesy of the University.
After lunch the students headed over to University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), where they were given an overview of the university and its admissions process and a tour of the campus. The students had the opportunity to talk to current UMES students and to get their perspectives on college life.
The students truly enjoyed the campus tours, and many seniors are now completing applications for Salisbury State because of their experience.
